# Review captions and plain language

AI Content Creation | Module 15: Make content accessible

## Your goal

Make meaning available across reading and listening situations.

Captions should follow the spoken content and identify meaningful sound. Review names and times carefully. Automatic output is a draft that needs a human check.

Use plain language in the main message. Explain unfamiliar terms and keep instructions in a useful order. Do not assume an emoji or colour conveys the same meaning to every reader.

Test the finished content without sound and without relying on images. Record what information disappears, then add it in a suitable form.

## Source pack

FICTIONAL PRACTICE BRIEF: Green Bench is a student repair club. It runs a free notebook-cover repair workshop on Saturday, 14:00 to 16:00, in Room B. There are 12 places. Learners bring one worn notebook; tools and scrap card are provided. Register using the club form. No date, form URL, access arrangements, impact figures, or testimonials have been supplied. Ask the organiser about missing details before publishing. This is a creative exercise, not a real event.

## Worked example

Plan a caption correction and a plain-language edit.

### Caption correction

If automatic captions say Rome Bee, correct them to Room B after listening to the final recording and checking the source.

### Plain-language edit

Replace Participants are requested to furnish a notebook with Bring one worn notebook. The shorter instruction keeps the meaning.

### Access review

Check the video without sound, then read the caption without the image. Add any essential time, location, or action that is missing.
