# Give a layout a reading order

AI Content Creation | Module 11: Design a readable content pack

## Your goal

Use size and space to make the message easy to scan.

Visual hierarchy tells the eye where to begin. Choose one main heading, group related details, and leave space between groups. When everything is large and bold, nothing feels primary.

Start in black and white. If the message only works because of colour, the layout may need clearer labels or spacing. Put the time and location together because readers need them together.

Make a rough poster with text boxes in any slide or design editor, or draw it on paper. Test it at the size a reader will actually see.

## Source pack

FICTIONAL PRACTICE BRIEF: Green Bench is a student repair club. It runs a free notebook-cover repair workshop on Saturday, 14:00 to 16:00, in Room B. There are 12 places. Learners bring one worn notebook; tools and scrap card are provided. Register using the club form. No date, form URL, access arrangements, impact figures, or testimonials have been supplied. Ask the organiser about missing details before publishing. This is a creative exercise, not a real event.

## Worked example

Describe a poster layout with a clear reading order.

### Primary message

### Information groups

Middle: the notebook illustration. Below: Saturday, 14:00 to 16:00, Room B, grouped together with what to bring.

### Review at size

Bottom: registration action. Reduce the preview to phone size and check that the time, room, and action remain readable.
